Malvinas y Reino Unido: cuando los argentinos opinan

Como quedamos ayer, debajo tenemos opiniones de argentinos acerca de la gente del Reino Unido y de las islas Malvinas.
Como recordatorio de nuestro post previo, dijimos que "La única condición: no discutir acerca de la soberanía y/o derechos reclamados sobre las islas." Desafortunadamente, las opiniones que se incluyen no cumplen del todo con la premisa. Existen varias posibilidades: editar, no incluirlos, etc. Sin embargo, como la idea de estos posts es tenes una plataforma abierta para el debate parece ser la mejor forma de proceder el publicarlos pero subrayando nuevamente esa premisa. De esta manera, las opiniones se adjuntan integralmente y no han sido editadas, respetando de esta forma el estilo de cada uno de sus autores. Queda en el lector decidir.

 

"Si me preguntan por Inglaterra y sus habitantes, se me ocurre pensar que como pueblo han aportado mucho a la sociedad moderna de hoy en día. Su ingenio aportó avances tan cruciales como la máquina de vapor, el teléfono o la revolución industrial, que nos convirtió en la civilización que somos. También tienen una curiosidad que les he llevado a moverse por todo el mundo, con los conflictos que eso trae. Conozco a muchos ingleses, tanto expatriados en Argentina como otros que he conocido por el mundo. Cumplen con el cliché  de tener una personalidad correcta, puntual y protocolaria aunque nunca les falta la famosa ironía inglesa, que les da un sentido del humor único. Los ingleses que viven en Argentina, se destacan por su capacidad de trabajo, visión de futuro y contundencia a la hora de pasar a la acción. Entienden la importancia de los contactos y las relaciones interpersonales, y desde el día en que llegan se esfuerzan por conocer la cultura Argentina y crear lazos con los locales. Todos los ingleses que conozco aprendieron el idioma y hoy en día hablan con las expresiones porteñas que cualquiera de nosotros usa día a día. Viajan por el país casi más que nosotros, lo conocen de norte a sur y allí donde van hacen todo lo posible por conocer gente y siempre tienen ideas de negocios. Hoy en día y muy a su pesar la gran mayoría está organizando su vuelta a Inglaterra, asustados por la situación política y económica. Argentina está dejando de ser un destino lucrativo o amigable hacia los británicos.

En este país se dice que somos medio italianos y medio españoles, pero no se debe pasar por alto la influencia inglesa en todos nosotros: el ferrocarril, la prensa, e incluso el idioma, con nuestros anglicismos en el habla cotidiana. Sin olvidar nunca el rugby, deporte cada vez más popular y del que soy gran admirador.
En mi caso particular, debo decir que no tengo nada que recriminarles. Entiendo que se les critique la arrogancia que tuvieron tanto en el pasado como ahora al usar la fuerza para conquistar nuevos territorios. Tema puntiagudo, que nos lleva a hablar de las Malvinas. A mi parecer, las Malvinas son Argentinas y me haría feliz que no fuese un tema en discusión.
Sin embargo, desde el fin de la guerra hasta hoy, hubo muchas oportunidades perdidas de gestionar diplomáticamente este conflicto y recuperar la soberanía. Ahora entran en juego palabras mayores como petróleo, y más allá de querer recuperarlas por motivos territoriales, me parece que las causas son económicas y electorales. Admito que no conozco mucho del tema, pero me da la sensación que los Kelpers están de acuerdo con la situación actual y debe encontrarse una via diplomática que nos lleve a una solución intermedia que contente a todos. Que no siga creciendo la enemistad entre dos pueblos que ya sufrieron y murieron por estas islas".

"Realmente siempre me senti comodo compartiendo con ciudadanos britanicos. Muchas veces pienso que los argentinos y ellos tenemos muchisimas coincidencias. Somos algo similares.
Britanicos viviendo en Argentina (que en los ultimos años se incremento ) como asi tambien visitando el Reino Unido. Gente agradable y con gustos similares. Sabemos que en Argentina no hay un odio contra UK, al contrario, aqui se ama su musica, su cultura, y para implificar hasta cualquiera se pude poner una remera mostrando la bandera britanica y hasta esta bien visto en la calle. Cualquier ingles o britanico recien inmigrado se siente comodo e integrado en AR.

El tema Malvinas en mi opinion debio haber sido solucionado ya hace unos 80 años atras +o-. La solucion en el mejor de los casos para AR sera "comprandolas" , o sea como un "retroarriendo lease-back".
AR tiene su prosperidad detenida en su historia desde hace unos 70 años aproximados. Yo creo que AR junto con UK integrados en la region sera el inicio del despegue de toda la region sudamericana inclyendo el futuro de la Antartida. Argentina con esto jugando el principal papel geopolitico y estrategico industrial y comercial.
Y esto lo deberiamos hacer cuanto antes, ya que los paises de nuestra region (Brasil,Uruguay,Chile) estan viendo con agrado las alternativas industriales y comerciales que se les presentaran con las Falklands. Antes que estemos fuera de esto, AR debera tomar dicho lugar. De no ser asi, AR quedara sin nada.
Hoy AR deberia haber sido mas que un Canada y un Australia. Pienso que aun esta a tiempo".

"Mi pensar y mi sentir.

 

He tenido la oportunidad,varias veces, de estar en Inglaterra y Escocia, y mas alla de mis prejuicios y sentimientos, la verdad es que me he sentido comoda y a gusto, es alli donde comienzo a descubrir que lo que mi corazon siente respecto a este pueblo, no es precisamente hacia este pueblo sino a ciertas politicas historicas que no comparto ni compartire jamas, pero sé tambien que esas politicas no representan al comun de la gente del pueblo ingles.

 

Creo que llego el momento, en que los seres que habitamos este bello planeta, trascendamos ciertas cuestiones, si es que queremos comenzar a tener una mejor calidad de vida.

Estoy convencida que la Paz, es la unica y VERDADERA forma de resolver conflictos.

Los unicos que ganan una guerra son los Egos de los gobernantes de turno o politicas y/o estrategias que no representan en absoluto el sentir de todo un Pueblo. Y esto es clarisimo…en cualquier parte del Mundo una madre, prefiere la Paz, un niño prefiere la Paz, un anciano prefiere la Paz, las familias prefieren la Paz… si éstos son mayoria en todo el mundo …porque pues existen las guerras?

 

Entonces mas alla de lo que nos pueden haber inculcado en la escuela, mas alla de lo que sintamos como nacionalismo en nuestro corazon, mas alla de los cliches y las rivalidades, creo que es momento de empezar a pensar de otra forma, de ver la realidad de una

manera mas Sabia, dejando de lado los intereses economicos y de orgullo que hoy

gobiernan el Mundo, yo se que suena utópico, yo se que parece una fantasia, pero sé

tambien que asi comienzan los proyectos que luego se hacen realidad.

 

En lo concreto, con respecto a las Islas Malvinas, según mi parecer, se deberian declarar Patrimonio de la Humanidad, y legislar de tal forma que sus habitantes y todo aquel que

quiera habitar alli, lo pueda hacer en paz y con deberes y derechos que respeten el suelo y sus habitantes.

 

Quizas las Islas Malvinas puedan ser la oportunidad de comenzar a dar el primer paso hacia nuevas politicas mundiales, mas humanizadas , quizas puedan ser algun dia el puntapié inicial hacia una nueva forma de resolver conflictos.

Se que no es facil, pero organizar una guerra tampoco es facil, entonces , creo que este es un buen momento historico, habida cuenta de las grandes crisis mundiales que estamos viviendo, de empezar a pensar, sentir , idear y construir un Mundo mejor., creo que toda la energia que se pone en crear estrategias que solo benefician a unos pocos, seria bueno que se comiencen en centrar en un Mundo mas justo para todos.

 

Malvinas Falkland Patrimonio de la Humanidad…en paz , con derechos y deberes, para todo el que quiera habitar alli…

"Mi opinión respecto a las Islas Malvinas es un poco contradictoria. Por un lado pienso que el pueblo argentino en toda su historia, y sobre todo en los últimos años, ha empezado a tener una actitud arrogante con numerosos temas que pueden estar relacionados directa o indirectamente con el tema Malvinas. Lamentablemente, muchos argentinos relacionan y asocian sus pensamientos a determinados temas referidos al deporte en general, principalmente el fútbol.
Aunque parezca mentira, muchas veces hablando con gente de mi edad e incluso más grande he notado esta característica. Este rechazo no sólo ocurre con Inglaterra sino también con muchos países que han sido rivales históricos en temas relacionados con el deporte.
Es un grave error que cometemos al mezclar el deporte con la política. La política, se supone, debería estar hecha para satisfacer las necesidades de todos los ciudadanos de un determinado país y contrariamente el deporte no satisface ninguna necesidad excepto aquellas que son superfluas.

Otro problema que tienen los argentinos es la oscuridad de la información. No solo la información que recibimos en Argentina es escasa sino también que está muy condicionada a las intereses de unos pocos. Yo creo que este tema y lo mencionado precedentemente en el primer párrafo ha hecho que el pueblo argentino en general tenga una opinión desfavorable respecto del tema Malvinas.

Por otro lado, el Reino Unido no está librado de culpa en mi opinión. A lo largo de la historia se han detectado actitudes coloniales e imperialistas por parte de los británicos que han perjudicado en su momento al pueblo originario. Está bien que eran otras épocas, otros códigos, otras culturas, pero no hay que olvidar ni dejar de lado la agresividad y la arrogancia del pueblo británico en toda su trayectoria.

Debido a este cruce de opiniones, yo creo que la solución más conveniente y adecuada para esta situación es sentarse a negociar sin dejar de lado el derecho internacional de libre determinación de los pueblos. Estoy a favor de una negociación bilateral donde se pongan en manifiesto prioritariamente los derechos de los ciudadanos argentinos, malvinenses y británicos y se satisfagan de la mejor manera posible bajo convenio internacional sin arreglos de por medio.

Para finalizar, y poniéndome como crítico de la política argentina, yo creo que lo que está faltando en Argentina en estos últimos años son objetivos y metas a largo plazo mediante estrategias claramente definidas. Por preocuparnos en el corto plazo ocurre esta inestabilidad política y económica constante. Uno se acuesta a dormir con una realidad política y se despierta al día siguiente con otra realidad no solamente distinta sino también opuesta a la del día anterior. Toda esta inestabilidad no solo perjudica a la economía sino también a la parte social y cultural, que directa o indirectamente está relacionada con el tema Malvinas.

Quizás sea un poco utópica mi opinión, pero es necesario tener ideas utópicas para poder alcanzar y lograr los objetivos que satisfagan las necesidades de todos los ciudadanos en donde, se supone, de eso se trata la política".

Falklands and the United Kingdom: Argentineans and their opinions

As we said yesterday, below we have some opinions from Argentineans about people in the United Kingdom and the Falkland Islands. (Note: the translation tries to reflect as accurately as possible the original).
As a reminder in relation to our previous post, we said that "The only condition: not to argue about sovereignty and/or claimed rights over the islands." Unfortunately, the below posts do not fully comply with that premise. There were several choices: edit them, not to post them, and so on. However, as the whole idea of these posts is to have an open floor for debate it seems that the best choice is to publish them but highlighting once again the condition.Therefore, the opinions are integrally attached and have not been edited, respecting the style of each of the authors.  It will be up to the reader to decide.

"If you ask me about England and its people, I think that they have contributed much to nowadays society. Their inventiveness brought progress as crucial as the steam engine, the telephone or the industrial revolution, our civilization became who we are. Also, because of their curiosity they have been moving around the world, with the consequent conflicts that this brings.
I know many Englishmen, both expatriates in Argentina as others I have met around the world. They comply with the cliché of having a proper personality, punctual and protocol but never lack the famous British irony, which gives them a unique sense of humor. Englishmen living in Argentina, are noted for their ability to work, foresight and forcefulness to take action. They understand the importance of contacts and relationships, and from the day they arrive strive to know Argentinean culture and build up bonds with the locals. Everyone I know learned the English language and nowadays some local expressions include their language. They travel the country almost more than we know it, from north to south and wherever they go they make every effort to meet people and always have business ideas. Currently, and much to their dismay, the vast majority is organizing their return to England, frightened by the political and economic situation. Argentina is ceasing to be a lucrative destination or friendly to the British.
 
In this country it is said that we are half Italian and half Spanish, but do not overlook the English influence on all of us: the railroad, the press, and even the language, with our Anglicisms in everyday speech. Without forgetting the rugby increasingly popular sport -I am a great admirer.In my particular case, I must say that I have nothing to recriminate them. I understand that they may be criticized because of their arrogance that they had in the past and have now to use force to conquer new territories.

That brings us to the Falklands. In my view, the Malvinas are Argentinean and I would be happy it was not a topic for discussion. However, since the end of the war until today, there were many missed opportunities to manage this conflict diplomatically and regain sovereignty. Now come into play other elements such as oil, and beyond wanting to recover them because of territorial reasons, I find that the causes are economic and electoral. I admit I do not know much about it, but I get the feeling that Kelpers agree with the current situation and must find a diplomatic channel that leads to a compromise that pleases everyone. I hope the enmity between two populations who suffered and died for these islands does not grow."

"I have always felt comfortable with British citizens. I often think that Argentineans and them have many similarities. Indeed, we are somewhat similar. Brits living in Argentina (who in recent years increased) as well as visiting the UK. Nice people with similar tastes. We know that in Argentina there is no hatred against the UK, on ​​the contrary, here we love their music, their culture, and for anyone now to wear a t-shirt displaying the Union Jack may even be well seen on the street. Any newly immigrated English or British feel comfortable and integrated in AR.

Before we're out of this, AR should take that place. Otherwise, AR will be left with nothing.Nowadays, AR should be more than Canada and Australia. I think there is still time. "

"My thinking and my feelings.

I had the opportunity, several times, to be in England and Scotland, and beyond my prejudices and feelings, the truth is that I felt comfortable and at ease, this is where I begin to discover that what my heart feels about this people it is not actually about them but about certain historical policies that I do not agree with or will ever do so, but I also know that those policies do not represent the average people of England.
 
I think it is time now, that the beings who inhabit this beautiful planet, transcend certain issues, if we want to have a better quality of life. I believe that peace is the only real way to solve conflicts.The only winning parties in a war are the egos of those in power or policies and/or strategies that do not represent at all the feelings of an entire population. And this is very clear ... anywhere in the world a mother, prefers peace,  a child prefers peace, an old man prefers peace, families prefer peace ... if they are the majority in the world ... why are there wars?

 
So beyond what we may have learnt in school, beyond what we feel in our hearts as nationalism, beyond the cliches and rivalries, I think it's time to start thinking differently, to see the reality more wisely, leaving aside the economic interests and pride that today rule the world. I know that sounds utopian, I know it seems like a fantasy, but I also know that's how projects begin and then come true.


In particular, the Malvinas, in my opinion, should be declared a World Heritage Site, and to legislate so as to its inhabitants and anyone who wants to live there can do so in peace, with their rights and duties to respect the land and its inhabitants.

The Malvinas Islands can be an opportunity to take the first step towards new global policies, more humanized, and maybe someday may be the kickoff to a new way of resolving conflicts.It is not easy, but to organize a war isn't easy either. Then, I think this is a good  historical time to see the great global crises we are living, and we start thinking, feeling, designing and building a better world. I think all instead of putting all the energy in creating strategies that benefit only a few, would be good to start focusing on a more just world for all.

"My opinion about the Malvinas Islands is a bit contradictory. On the one hand I think that the Argentine people historcally, and especially in recent years, have begun to have a cavalier attitude to many issues that may be directly or indirectly linked to the Malvinas. Unfortunately, many Argentines relate and associate their thoughts on certain issues related to sport in general, especially football.
Oddly enough, often talking to people my age and even older is that I've noticed this feature. This rejection occurs not only with England but also with many other countries that have been historical rivals in sport-related topics.

It is a major mistake we make mixing sports with politics. Politics are supposed and should be made to meet the needs of all citizens of a particular country; and contrary, sport needs don't have to satisfy any except those which are superfluous.
 

Another problem I have is that Argentines information is obscure. Not only the information we receive in Argentina is scarce but it is strongly dependent on the interests of a few. I believe this issue and as mentioned above in the first paragraph has made the Argentine people in general to have an unfavorable opinion about the Malvinas.
Additionally, the UK is not free from blame in my opinion. Throughout history they have shown colonial and imperialist attitudes that have damaged at the time the originary people. However, that was the past, other codes, other cultures, but we must not forget or ignore the aggression and arrogance of the British people.
Because this difference in opinions, I believe that the most convenient and appropriate way of dealing with this situation is sit down and negotiate without ignoring the international law of self-determination of people. I am in favour of bilateral negotiations which giving priority to the rights of Argentineans, British people and Malvinas islanders under an international convention without biased "arrangements".
Finally, and as a critic of Argentina's policies, I think that what is missing in Argentina in recent years are objectives and long-term goals with clearly defined strategies. Because of focusing on short-term worries we end up with this constant political and economic instability. One goes to bed with a political reality and wakes up the next day with another reality not only different but also opposed to the previous day. All this instability not only does work against the economy but also the social and cultural aspects, that directly or indirectly relates to Malvinas.
My opinion may be a bit utopian but you need to have utopian ideas to achieve goals that meet the needs of all citizens; and that is presumably what politics should do".
